I ended 2012 with a 12 hour party! My friend Jenny and her boyfriend Jonas had invited me over for a lovely New Years lunch (aka pre-pre-party). We popped open a bottle of bubbly and Jonas (who has worked as a chef) whipped up a five star meal for us.
Then it was time to head to the pre-party at a couple of friends of Jenny and Jonas’. The drinks and conversation was flowing, people were dropping in at random and before we knew it, it was time to head to our next and final destination.
We’d been invited to a rather exclusive dinner on the top floor of Sjöpaviljongen, overlooking the water. We arrived and were served a glass of bubbly before being seated for dinner. The dinner was above and beyond my expectations. A sea food buffet that can hardly be described with words, totally over the top and crazy delicious! We dined, mingled, and danced the hours away leading up to midnight. As the clock struck twelve we all grabbed our champagne glasses headed outside onto the veranda. The rain was trickling down over us as we cheered in the new year while breathing in the panoramic view of the fireworks dancing over the water.
The night continued with more dancing and mingling before we tip-toed our way home in our heels. A great start to the year two-thousand-thirteen. I expect great things from here on out.

The Blonds F/W 2012
My friend Malin (aka my music guru) just mentioned one of the latest (and kind of unexpected) music collaborations – will.i.am featuring Britney Spears. I checked out the video and, you know me, the second I saw studs and glitter I was more focused on the outfits in the video than the actual song.
Throughout the video Britney is doing a stiff twirl in various black numbers, but one outfit stands out. The above dress is from The Blonds F/W 2012 collection and anyone that knows me will know I wouldn’t hesitate a second if I got a chance to wear it. Crazy, over the top, spikes, and glitter is kind of my thing. Why go for the classic and safe LBD when you can wear this? (Minus the helmet of course)

Me, A and S at Häktet
On Friday night we ended up in jail…
Ok, not literally. A couple of class mates of mine and I went to a fairly newly opened bar called “Häktet” (remand prison/jail) for a couple of drinks. I had a great time and the place was absolutely jam packed!
Woke up late yesterday and rolled into town to meet my brother for a cup of coffee and then my friend B for a couple of drinks. Thank goodness for good friends and family when life feels tough.
Last night I pulled on my best little black dress (which has made several appearances in the blog) and headed out into the night. I’m fortunate enough to be friends with the fabulous Lydia Winters, who invited me to the Mojang office (where she works) for a fantastic moving in party.
I confess I know nothing about Minecraft (the game that was created by Markus Persson of Mojang), but after seeing my brother’s reaction when I told him I was going to the Mojang party I gather it’s a big deal. The party was great, there was a famous magician there that blew me away with his tricks, lots of people to mingle with, and – as it has a tendency to be in computer and gaming related environments – mostly guys.
Speaking of guys… Since getting my bangs cut again sometime back in May, I’ve had more than a handful of comments referencing my appearance to Loreen (this year’s Eurovision song contest winner, from Sweden). I try to just take it as a compliment, she’s gorgeous. But when people start using it as a pick up line, it gets old pretty quickly. Last night’s prize for worst pick up line goes to the middle aged man who walked up to me in a not very straight line due to his drank and slurred “Hey… are you Loreen?” Oh, look at the time…
I’m on a boat.

The view with dinner
It was midsummer’s eve yesterday. A big day in Sweden, and Malin had invited me to a party on a boat. She’d said it was a pirate boat but I figured that was just her way of wording it (she’s got a way with words that one). As we walked up to the boat I was stunned (and wonderfully excited) to see it was, in fact, a pirate boat. All black with red detailing along the side, hefty ropes and old creaky wood, it even had two skull flags!
We arrived around noon and were greeted by the captain of the ship, who also happens to be a permanent resident of the boat. We cracked open some drinks and breathed in the wonderful view. After a traditional “sill”-lunch (pickled herring, potatoes and eggs), the rest of the afternoon was spent soaking up the sun, talking, snapping goofy pictures, and waving to people walking by on the dock.
Once the sun had moved a considerable distance across the sky, Malin’s boyfriend fired up the grill and the captain of the ship (who also happens to be a chef, lucky us) prepared a plethora of goodies for dinner. Full and content, we basked in the evening sunlight, and had fun inviting some passers by onto the boat for a shot. I threw in the towel after that, too much sunshine had given me a migrane, but it was so worth it!
Now I’m off for round two of midsummer, a summer dinner at mom’s place. Albeit under the more traditional Swedish midsummer weather – grey skies and rain.
