Yellow glitter nails

yellownails1 yellownails2

I’m really into doing sparkly nails right now. It takes forever to do, but it’s pretty worth it. This time I used a yellow polish from OPI called Need Sunglasses? and topped it with the same glitter as last time, and then a coat of clear polish to keep it all in place.

You diggin’ it?

Royal Rajah Ruby by OPI and craft store glitter

Anyone that knows me will find it very uncharacteristic of me to stay home from Uni no matter how sick I am. But after feeling like I was going to pass out from whatever this cold/flu is that I am suffering from, I made the decision to stay home and rest today. I’m really sad that I was unable to partake in the presentation of the research paper I’ve been writing together with my group mates over the past couple of weeks. It sucks having put so much work into something and then not being there to actually present it and hear the feedback from my class mates and teacher.

So, my day has consisted of nothing more exciting than further basking in the boredom of being sick and resting. To avoid going completely insane from restlessness, I spent a significant amount of time and effort painting my nails. I used Royal Rajah Ruby by OPI followed by a dusting of some regular craft store glitter I had on hand. Nothing like cheering yourself up on a sick day with some fireworks.

DIY braided chain necklace (doubles as a chunky bracelet)

Another one of my DIY projects. I used a gold chain and bold colored embroidery thread to make a braided necklace, similar to the bracelet I made recently. Once finished, I realized it doubles as a very chunky bracelet. It works as a nice statement accessory for a simple outfit.

Crafty, vintage wrapping paper

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that I love being crafty and creative. I’ve always loved putting together nice gifts for people and my eyes have a tendency to be drawn to pretty wrapping paper, tags and ribbons when I’m in a store that sells stuff like that. I came across some websites that sell absolutely gorgeous wrapping paper, that can be used both to wrap gifts for friends or to cover boxes and tins full of secrets. Nice wrapping paper can also be framed in pieces and hung on the wall. I wish we had these stores in Sweden!

Aren’t they gorgeous?

It’s October and I’m thinking about Christmas

This is going to sound crazy, but I’ve started longing for Christmas. Already. I don’t know what has gotten into me but I’ve started thinking about cosy Christmas stars lighting up the windows, decorating and making the house look and feel cosy. I actually hate winter, and as soon as Christmas has passed I cannot stand the cold and darkness that keeps an iron grip on Sweden up until about March or April. Winters are so long and dark here in Sweden, it’s beyond me how we survive each year.

The only good thing about winter is that somewhere in all of that darkness and stone coldness, there’s Christmas that brings some light and gives me an opportunity to be extra creative – I love to decorate the house, be crafty and make my own Christmas cards and wrap my gifts in all kinds of creative ways. There’s a lot of days leading up to Chrismtas too, that offer opportunity to be crafty, like Lucia when we eat Lussebullar (sweet buns with saffron flavor, yes I’ll be sure to be baking them this year!), or the four Sundays of advent, we light one candle every Sunday in December leading up to Christmas.

Are you looking forward to Christmas?
